audio equipment i use for all my projects
THE PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMMAKING AUDIO EQUIPMENT I USE AND RECOMMEND.
RODE VIDEOMIC NTG
The audio quality from the Rode Videomic NTG is amazing. It can be used on-camera, on a boom, on-camera, and via USB plugged into a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The 3.5mm jack doubles as a headphone output for audio monitoring. So good.
RODE VIDEOMICRO
Tiny and mighty. This little guy has so many advantages, including not needing batteries. Audio quality is nearly the same as its big brother the Videomic Pro+, at a fraction of the price. So small, so light, such good audio, and at an amazing price.
RODE VIDEOMIC PRO+
I’ve used the Videomic Pro+ and its earlier variants for many years now and it always sounds good. Quite durable, long-lasting battery, and very good audio quality for an on-camera microphone. There’s good reason the Rode Videomic is so popular.
Rode NT1A
A legend of a microphone, the Rode NT1A is a studio condenser mic that produces incredible audio. I mainly use this mic for voiceover work, as it produces buttery smooth, natural voice texture. I cannot stress enough how much I like this mic.
Rode NTG3
The Rode NTG3 microphone is a Super-Cardioid Condenser Microphone of the highest build quality. This mic produces incredible audio. While not an inexpensive microphone, it is great in the studio or as a boom mic, it truly is broadcast ready.
Aputure Light Dome 2
Whether used with the detachable x/y mics, lavalier mics, or shotgun mic attached via XLR, the Zoom H5 recorder is a wonderful tool for filmmakers or those wanting excellent audio quality with more flexibility than recording to camera.
Focusrite Scarlett 4i4
A simple, no-hassle audio interface for powering your studio monitors and studio headphones. The Scarlett 4i4 also allows you to record to your computer via XLR inputs delivering clean, clear audio. I highly recommend this audio interface.
Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro
These over-ear studio headphones are like wearing a hug - a hug that sounds amazing.. I comfortably wear these headphones while editing for hours. The sound quality when paired with a good audio interface and headphone amp is spectacular.
Adam Audio T5V
A good set of studio monitors are invaluable, and to me, the Adams Audio T5V are just about perfect. They aren’t obnoxiously large, but give the most amazingly clear audio I’ve ever heard from a studio monitor. Film editing with the T5V’s is wonderful.
