Some projects are special, and this one was one of them. A recent issue of Cosmopolitan Home magazine featured an article on health and fitness that included an interview with my wife. She shared about her passion for endurance athletics, her work as a personal trainer and fitness instructor at MVP Sports Clubs, and the marathons and triathlons she completes each year—including the Boston Marathon and Chicago Marathon, as well as Ironman-distance races.
For those who may not be familiar, an Ironman is one of the most demanding endurance challenges out there: a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and then a full 26.2-mile marathon. Watching her train, compete, and finish these events year after year is nothing short of inspiring. The commitment and discipline required to prepare for races like Boston or an Ironman aren’t just physical—they demand a mental toughness that carries over into every aspect of life.
I was honored to provide the photography for the feature, but more than anything, I was proud to see her story highlighted. Usually my work is commercial or product-focused, but assignments like this allow me to capture lifestyle and editorial images that tell a deeper story. For me, photography is always about more than just the images—it’s about showing character, energy, and the strength behind a person or brand.
Living in Grand Rapids, it’s also rewarding to see someone from our community recognized for their achievements in endurance athletics. West Michigan has a thriving fitness culture, from running clubs to triathlon training groups, and this feature was a reminder of just how much talent and passion there is here locally.
Seeing her words in print alongside my photos was one of those full-circle moments where personal and professional overlap. I’m grateful to have been part of telling her story and even more grateful to share life with someone so driven.
